Teacher Had Sexual Relationship With "Child 16 Or Younger": Police

A League City, Texas teacher resigned last month after her ongoing affair with a student came to the attention of authorities.

Investigators say Stephanie Forbes, 40, is accused of having a relationship with a "child 16 years old or younger" who is a student at the high school where she taught.

KHOU reported that Forbes had taught in the Clear Creek Independent School District for 10 years, most recently at Clear Creek High School.

Galveston County Sheriff's Office deputies posted at the high school began an investigation into Forbes in December after receiving a tip that she had been involved in an ongoing sexual relationship with a student, according to KPRC.

Forbes was arrested Thursday, but is out of jail on condition that she stays away from children when no other adults are present. She faces charges of sexual assault of a child and improper relationship between educator and student.

This is the latest teacher sex scandal to hit Texas.

Last August, a jury convicted Texas teacher Brittni Colleps of 16 counts of having an improper relationship with students and was sentenced to five years in prison.

Colleps, a high school teacher at the time, appeared in a video having group sex with four 18- and 19-year-old students at her suburban home.

Colleps later told 20/20 that she felt victimized because she never gave her consent to be filmed.
