8-Story Fall, Not A Bone Broken

A Winnipeg window washer who survived an eight-storey fall says he's is good spirits.

In a statement released Thursday by the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority, 27-year-old Chris Piper thanked everyone for their well wishes but declined to speak with the media.

Piper's boss at Class A Service, Jim St. Godard, says miraculously Piper suffered no broken bones, but Patricia St. Godard says he's going to have to have knee surgery.

Witnesses say Piper's fall was broken by a glass solarium that he hit and smashed through on his way down.

Piper had been working with his uncle, an experienced window washer, at the site when the fall occurred.

Patricia St. Godard says Piper had a safety net and a safety harness when the fall happened.

She says the 25-year-old company has never had a similar incident before.

Workplace Safety and Health officials are investigating the incident.
