MADRAS, Ore. (AP) — It has taken nearly 12 hours for beekeepers to collect a half-billion bees that have been buzzing alongside a highway in Oregon since a truck crash Sunday spilled 200 hives. KGW reports (http://is.gd/PpFMdz) bee apprentices from the Central Oregon Beekeepers Association wore protective gear as they carefully picked up each hive and checked it out. The crash happened Thursday on Highway 97 north of Madras when the semi-truck transporting the bees swerved to avoid hitting an animal and rolled. The rescued bees have been sent to their original destination.
