A mother from Centralia, Wash. is in jail after a video surfaced showing her allegedly letting her 22-month-old son smoke marijuana from a bong.
Rachelle Braaten, 24, was arrested Friday when police's anti-crime team went to check on the boy's welfare and found 40 marijuana plants in the home, KOMO 4 News reported. The mother now faces charges of manufacture of marijuana and delivery of a controlled substance to a minor.
Braaten, who in the video appears to laugh while the toddler leans over the bong, allegedly said she felt "horrible" about the incident.
"I guess it was a joke and a stupid mistake that wasn't really funny," she told police.
Tyler Lee, who is Braaten's fiance and the child's father, was also arrested after allegedly confessing to selling marijuana to a dispensary. Lee claimed he was not present when the video was being filmed. He was also charged with three counts of unlawful possession of a firearm, according to Q13Fox.
The 22-month-old, along with Braaten's 5-year-old child, are now in protective services while their mother remains in jail on a $5,000 bail. Lee, meanwhile, was released Monday pending filing of charges.
