Gary Thomas Ewald Accused Of Poisoning Neighbor's Dogs

A Texas man has been arrested after allegedly poisoning his neighbor's dogs because he was annoyed by constant barking.

Gary Thomas Ewald, 58, was arrested last week after surveillance video showed him pouring a liquid in the backyard of his home in Round Rock, Texas.

He was charged with cruelty to non-livestock animals, KHOU-TV reported.

The allegations against Ewald came from several neighbors, according to MyFoxAustin.com. One of the neighbors told authorities her three dogs vomited for three days after the suspect verbally threatened to poison her dogs.

Another neighbor, Matthew Alpers, installed a video camera earlier this month on the advice of police and captured the video of Ewald pouring an unidentified liquid into his yard.

Investigators said Ewald admitted he was bothered by the dog barking but insisted that the liquid he allegedly dumped was not toxic. “He stated he cleaned his Bar-B-Q pit and…poured [the remains] over the fence onto his neighbor’s backyard,” according to an arrest warrant obtained by WWGP1050.com.

Alpers said his dogs eventually recovered, but a veterinarian was unable to run toxicity tests without known what substance to look for, the Associated Press reported.

Ewald was booked and released on $7,500 felony bond, according to ABCNews.com.
