Do You Have The Balls For Combat Juggling?

Unless chainsaws or other deadly objects are in play, juggling doesn't normally produce high drama. But what if the performance art were transformed into a contact sport?

That is indeed happening, Grantland reports in the video above.

"Combat juggling" pits jugglers mano a mano. Competitors try to knock each other's pins down while continuing to juggle.

"Are people taking us seriously?" one participant says in the clip. "Of course not."

Another practitioner remarked that until the movie "Dodgeball," people didn't know there were dodgeball events. "There needs to be a juggling movie," he said.

Obscure as combat juggling might be, the sport did manage to make "The Colbert Report" once, Laughing Squid pointed out. "The sport for you, if you've ever seen someone juggling and thought to yourself, 'Man, I'd like to punch that guy,'" host Stephen Colbert said.

The World Juggling Federation's Major League Combat describes its game thusly: "The world’s most vicious and strategic club manipulators attack and take each other down while maintaining control over gravity in a 5 on 5 team deathmatch tournament."

They had us at "most vicious."
