Get Ready, Pee-wee Herman Will Return To The Big Screen Soon

The luckiest boy in the world will soon fly again. Nearly 30 years after "Pee-wee's Big Adventure" and following several years of ongoing rumors, Paul Reubens has announced that Pee-wee Herman will officially return to the big screen.

Reubens confirmed the news Wednesday on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon," saying he's written a script, hired a director and made plans to begin production in February. Reubens wouldn't reveal the director, but he said to expect a "huge announcement" next week. As previously reported, Judd Apatow will produce the movie.

Pee-wee's next big adventure will mark his first movie since 1988's "Big Top Pee-wee," a spiritual sequel to "Pee-wee's Big Adventure." Ruebens temporarily laid the man-child character to rest after an indecent-exposure scandal in 1991, but he began talk of a new Pee-wee movie during a 1999 appearance on "The Tonight Show with Jay Leno."
