Sometimes, we all have an off day. But when you're a professional diver, one bad moment can mean the difference between a tiny plop when you enter the water, or a massive belly flop.
Juan Guillermo Ríos and Víctor Ortega, two Colombian divers, were competing at the FINA Diving World Series in Kazan, Russia, last weekend. The pair was participating in the synchronized 10-meter platform, and attempted a tandem reverse 3 1/2 somersault dive.
All looked well during the first rotation. But Ríos quickly fell out of sync with his partner before landing squarely on his back in an epic flop.
And here it is again, from another angle:
The fall was apparently hard enough that Ríos was sent to the medic clinic after coughing up blood, before assuring fans that he was unharmed, ninemsn reported.
